 | It's October 15th and time to ready your Christmas Cactus for Christmas blooms. A Christmas Cactus needs 12-14 hours of darkness each night in order to form blooms. You can put it in a closet every night, or just leave it there for about two weeks until the small buds form.

That's what I will be doing. I'm putting the Christmas Cactus on the top shelf of the linen closet until Halloween.
| Watch for small buds on the top edges of the leaves. When you see a few about the size of a beaded pin head on the leaves, it's time to put the plant back where you had it. At Christmas your cactus will be full of beautiful blooms.
A Christmas Cactus is a tropical succulent, not a desert one. Water when the top inch or so of soil is dry to the touch.
